Maligayan Fiesta Ng Patay,
Happy festival of the dead their may not be a Halloween in the
Philippines but that does not mean you cannot commercialized
all saints day into the same thing. Last night as my companion and
it went past the grave yard their were vendors selling everything
from Halloween masks and candy to slurpie shakes and candles
and flowers for the graves of their loved ones. The tradition is
tonight Nov 1 they will sleep over at the grave yard and prayer
for the souls of their dead ancestors to make it into heave.
Its funny we taught a lesson about baptisms for the dead this
week to an investigator and she said that sound to her like a much
better idea than just sitting on graves and praying I kind of
wanted to laugh but did not of course! The bravo family was were
the first people at church this week. Sister Emily, Brother Jay
and their children were all dressed up and ready to go and we
are so proud of sister who has stopped working on Sundays
because we know it is hard for her since that is their only way
of income is to sell every day. They need to do this just to make
ends meet here but as we taught the 10 commandments last
night our branch president who worked with us and helped
teach the lesson challenged sister Emily and brother jay not
to work on Sunday and that they would have blessings from
doing so. Our branch president is pretty much the coolest ever
by the way! Not much other news for the week. I LOVE being
a missionary its just getting better and better and the closer it
gets to Christmas and here it feels much closer because they start
early . the more I just don't want it to be over with quite yet!
I know that this is the lords work and I just feel blessed to be
out here doing it. I love you all and miss you always!
Ingat sa Lahat,
Sister QUinn
