Kumusta Po Kayo,
Nalipat Po Kami sa lingo na ito! We moved house this week.
Really we moved house all in just one day but with the
exhaustion we felt it might as well have been the whole week.
It felt weird even taking out one day not to work not to proselyte
and share the gospel it's weird I really so much rather would
have been out teaching our investigators. You'd think I'd want
a day off but really even now teaching is what I LOVE the best.
It's what I came here to do and as I feel the spirit when we teach
I gain my strength to remain here in spite of the heat and trails
that come my way as a missionary in the Philippines! We
LOVE OUR NEW HOUSE! It is amazing its actually tempting
now that its all set up not to even leave its so clean! and because
its in a suburb area and their is shade its so lovely. Its cooler than
the new house because we got to buy a new electric fan one that is
not from the 1980's and that really helps. In terms of weather it is
still BOILING HOT! El Ninyo Daw ( they said). Hangang ( UNtill)
June Daw ( they said). It keeps on looking as if it will rain their are
DARK clouds and wind so strong its scares me I keep on saying
Sister Mag Bagio Ngyon Ba? A Bagio is the word they use for big
storms, for all storms really but you know when people say bagio
usually the mean SERIOUS rain. It hasn't happened yet and
Sister Soriano keeps on telling me she feels it will still be a long
time before the big storms, but really they are all very shocked.
All the Filipino's keep on saying how unnatural it is that the rain
should be here by now that usually in may it rains a lot, but still
I haven't seen much. Any ways back to the move. ON Thursday
in one day all our things went from the old house to the new.
We we're beyond touched with the help from the Elder's of our
Zone who by hand carried our four beds across a busy high way
for at least 45 minuets they carried our beds from one house to the
other no truck no car no nothing just sheer will power and the
strength of the Elders of Israel! We Our bishop also helped out
Strapping our huge desk to the roof of the tiny side car of his trike
with a rope and then I rode one the back of the motor bike part of
the trike and Sister Soriano inside the side car with all the desks to
show bishop where the new apartment was. It was hilarious and
I was laughing the whole time thinking IF ONLY my Mother could
see me now! Any ways we we're grateful for the help. IN terms of
the work this week we've been doing a lot of re-activation knowing
that we need to help the ward if we are ever to help our investigators
have fellow shipping. On Saturday we had again the help and support
of our humble and always willing bishop to go out and reach out to
some of our less actives who are very far away from the church
building. I saw some of the farther parts of our very large area.
We went to a place called Valley Cruze which has some of the
most beautiful parts of country side along side a LITERAL
Mountain of garbage that is smoking and burning 24/7. The best
news of the week is we have a baptismal interview set up for Sister
Edith this week and so she continues to progress towards her
baptism and Sister Soriano and I are so excited for her! That's
all for this week I can think of this post ended up being a lot longer
than I'd thought it would be! I have posted pictures of everything
I've spoken of here and more in my photo bucket LOADS of new
pic's this week all REALLY good check them out! I love you all and
I miss you!

Kumusta Po Kayo.
Sa Lingo Na ito May National Philippines Service day po
Kami! Masaya
Siya. We cleaned a park in the area called Freedom park.
We had the
Church's yellow helping hands vests and it was a lot of
fun as I
continue to find out what a Small world it is I meet the
parents of a
Filipino Elder I'd got to know in the MTC. Elder Salvador
is serving
in Alaska which I think is hilarious seeing as how cold
a Filipino
would be their! I couldn't help but laugh thinking of all
the places
for me to be assigned I got to meet his parents. They we're
so sweet
asking about how their son had been last I'd seen him and
if his
English was very good. Our service also has not gone
unnoticed just
this morning while Sister Soriano and I we're at the
Pelanke (Wet
market) We ran into the city counselor who said he'd seen
the service
we'd done at the park and was very pleased. He is not in
our area so
we cannot teach him but we hope to pass his name onto the
Zone leaders
so that they might be able to share the gospel with him!
Also this
week Sister Soriano and we're so excited to hear that
Sister Edith one
of our investigators who is ALWAYS at church every week,
has finally
receive a long awaited answer about Joseph Smith being a
true prophet.
She shared with us just last night her wonderful spiritual
experience
she said that she was the only one awake late at night in
their small
home and though not sure if a real voice or in a dream
someone spoke
to her and said just trust me don’t doubt it! As she shared
her
experience both sister Soriano and I felt the spirit very
strong.
Sister Edith has a Baptismal goal date for the very
beginning of this
next transfer and we now feel like she’s finally really
ready to keep
that Baptismal Goal Date! It’s funny because this week
I’d suggested
in weekly planning that we fast for her and ask her to
maybe fast
along side with us for her to receive and answer to her
prayers, and
just as we we’re going to review fasting with her and
make the
suggestion she stopped us and said Sisters ! I have
something to tell
you! I got an answer to my prayer! I cannot explain the
warmth that
filled my heart as she beamed at me and my companion
excited to share
what had happened to her. I testified to her of course
that we know
these things are true because as missionaries we see it
every day in
the lives of those we work with and as I told her no
matter who we
talk to it is always the same they feel the warmth the
feelings of
peace and then they know it is true, that Joseph Smith is
a true
prophet that this is the Church of Christ restored to the
earth! We've
got a lot going on this week. We're moving apartment's on
Thursday so
its going to be SUPER hectic, but just like I always tell
my
investigators, with god all things are possible! I love you
all I miss
you loads, check out the pictures of our service project on
photobucket.
INGAT SA LAHAT.

Sorry I did not get the last blog post up last week but it is posted
now. So go back and read the last posting because Sister Quinn
has an amazing story to tell. Here's her lasted posting. Mom Quinn

Kumusta Po Kayo Ang Aking Pamiliya at Masang Arawal Ng Mga
Nannay (Happy day of Mother's in Tagalog),
Glad to hear the voice's of family this week. Always the voice of
reason and comfort. I am thankful for all your advice and Love.
I would like to share this week about

The great progress we've been having with sort of broken

family we are teaching who have a 19 year old son in the

house. We always teach with his mother (Sister Rosario Casino)

present and the spirit is amazing you can tell the son (Brother Junior)

has had a rough past but that he really wants to change and when

we came this week to teach them about Baptisim to he shared

with us that he'd had a dream where he'd seen himself being

baptized in the same way we showed of how Christ was baptized

by John the baptist. When we showed him our picture of Christ's

baptism he said that this was just like what he'd seen in his

dream and a great spirit entered the room. We are very

excited that he attended church this week along with his sister,

his mother and her live in companion (Brother Vale) did not

come along but Sister Rosario was very obviously ashamed when

we came to teach them later on Sunday night we could tell she

was disappointed she had not attended. She is promising she

will come next week. Her son shared with her about how he

felt a wonderful spirit as we toured the church building with

him because he was early for church! Sister Soriano and I are

so excited for this family especially excited to see how excited

and anxious brother Junior is to be a Priesthood holder. I cannot

say how rewarding it is to see the lives of others change as

their knowledge and testimony of the gospel of Jesus Christ

grows! I am seeing the same in my self more and more each

day as well. This week in my personal study I've started to

study the New Testament! I'm so excited about it about

learning more of Christ’s own apostle’s personal account

of his life. I discovered in the missionary apartment a very

old but exciting manual entitled The life of Jesus Christ and

his Apostles which I’ve begun to read along side my study

of the new testament and I am really loving learning more

about my savior he is becoming more personal to me every

day. I have not abandoned my study of the Book of Mormon

by any means though and in fact since I have finished a whole

reading of the Book of Mormon in English I've decided a new

approach that has opened the scriptures up to me in a whole new

way. I have begun to read a chapter of Ang Aklat Ni Mormon

sa Tagalog every night before I fall asleep. I am blessed by the

lord with the gift of tongues enough now that I can really grasp

what I read from Ang Aklat Ni Mormon. I have a goal to read

the whole of it before the end of my mission and to mark it up

with highlighter like I have seen all of my Filipino companions

with their own personal investigator copy's. I can see that I

will be a great tool as I continue to study it I can find verses

the verses that clearly explain the doctrine best in Tagalog.

I’m excited every night to read! and I know the book is true

no matter what language it is in. Totoo ANG SIMBAHAN,

Totoo ANG AKLAT NI MORMON, Totoo Siya!

Mahal Na Mahal Ko Kayo,

Mag-Miss Ko po Kayo,

Sister Quinn

Kumusta Po Kayo greetings and Ulam! (ulam means rain),
We had our first real few rain storms allready this week
although that doesn't mean it isnt still hot! Its burnning and
by that I mean at least 38 celcius with the humidity index,
The craziest thing happened last night even I can hardly
belive it. We we're teaching a brand new investigator sister Mati
and her older brother Edwin who we've also started teaching
walked in late to our lesson, which was of course a bit distracting,
but the most distracting thing of all he was wearing and I kid,
and joke, and lie to you not MY HIGH SCHOOL BAND T-SHIRT!
AT first I thought hey that looks a lot like a CHHS band shirt
then I looked again and sure enough yest it was a REAL
chhs 200-2001 Panther Band shirt. I just about could not continue
I laughed out loud and maybe shocked our investigators if not
my companion a little bit but it was to crazy to be true! He said
he got it at something here that they call Ukay Ukay which is like
second hand stuff that people pick up from all over and sell in mass,
Kind of like a plato's closet if you know what that is. Any ways I
took pictures and they are on the blog so you can all see it for
you're own eyes. Trust me if I had not seen it I would not belive
it either. It just goes to prove that the world is SMALL!
The best experience of this week I'd like to share though is about
a 12 year old girl we are teaching named Sherina, her sister Shela
aged 17 is also a recent convert and usually sits in on our lessons.
I've noticed in these first few weeks that sherina is a very smart
young girl and knows all that we teach her to the point that she
is really becoming a bit bored with with the lessons although we
still do not feel her testimony is strong enough for baptisim and
she is not yet keeping the comittment to attend church every
week.
So thinking what on earth we could to to give her inspiration
and excitment about becoming I memeber i thought of what I
wanted to do at church when I was 12 years old all the sudden
the inspiration just struck me PERSONAL PROGRESS! We’ve
now given her abd ger older sister a book and have started her
out on the first Fait value experience and she is LOVING it and
Sister Soriano my companion also being a new member having
not done personal progress herself is loving it too! It builds my
testimony of how inspired our leaders are to see how something
as simple personal progress has completely changed our teaching
atmosphere and experience with Sherina and her Sister Shelia.
I know that this is truly the lord's work I am engaged in here.
I'm happy to keep on doing it! I love you all and miss you!

Maganda Umaga and Greetings from Cabanatuan!
I have been sent again to exactly the place that I'd asked the
lord and said that if it we're okay with him this was where I'd
wanted to go! I feel like a blessed beyond blessed missionary.
My new companion Sister Soriano is so nice! I love here! We
are both Dal Dal ( talkative) and so our companionship studies
sometimes go well past the one hour mark and if they are in the
night we are chatting well after them well into the night. We
have bunk bed's here in our TINEY but happy little room and
we chat well late into the night its great! I have replaced my MTC
companion Sister Mains here in Cabanatuan ward 6. They all
love me I was so worried because its hard being a new missionary
but they say they feel as if Sister mains hasn't even really left,
and that is a big compliment because i know they love her,
everyone loves her she is the essence of sugar and spice and
everything nice, so at first I was a bit scared to replace her,
but things have really been great so far. Our ward is very
small here, by small I mean 45 people in sacrament last Sunday,
and our bishop is 25 years old. SO in sort we have a lot of work
here to do but Sister Soriano and I are excited about that, we
think we are ready for the challenge and I'm excited to do some
more serious tracking and open my mouth in sharing the gospel
of Jesus Christ! I'm very much more out in the country here.
Tarlac was a big city so I'm excited here every time I see a
Mountain or a Bukad ( Rice field). This country really is beautiful
and now I am finally seeing a bit of what I was missing. They are
calling me Sister Rena here Rena means Queen, They of course
think that's what I'm saying everytime I say I'm Sister Quinn so
they say OH nice to meet you Sister Rena and I just smile and
feel great inside! So all and all happy here in the new area, and
excited for what the future will bring here!
Love you all and miss you!
Sister Quinn
